Real Assets

Description

The Real Assets group covers investment strategies related to physical assets such as real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources. This group emphasizes the different valuation methods and market dynamics relevant to real asset classes, as well as the particular economic forces impacting each—like urbanization trends, shifts in energy demand, and infrastructure spending. Members study the acquisition, development, and management of real assets and participate in mock transactions that allow them to practice underwriting and asset management strategies. This theme addresses the unique cash flow structures, regulatory considerations, and capital requirements inherent to real assets, which differ significantly from other asset classes due to their tangible nature and potential for long-term value appreciation. Members will also discuss themes such as green infrastructure and sustainable investing, broadening their understanding of how environmental considerations are increasingly shaping real asset strategies.

This theme provides foundational skills for careers in real estate investment trusts (REITs), infrastructure funds, asset management firms, underwriting, and development companies focused on real estate, land, and energy assets, enabling students to analyze and manage diverse investment opportunities.
