Private Equity
Description
The Private Equity group dives into capital investments within private companies, where operational improvement and financial engineering combine to create value over time. Members will explore the stages of a private equity transaction—from identifying potential investment opportunities and conducting initial assessments, to navigating the due diligence process and developing strategies to enhance portfolio company performance. Throughout the year, the group will analyze key factors influencing the success of private investments, such as industry trends, financial health, competitive advantage, and exit opportunities. The group’s hands-on activities, including mock takeovers and financial modeling for private equity deals, simulate real-world PE transactions and deepen understanding of value creation levers unique to this asset class. Students will also study distinct strategies within private equity, from venture capital and growth equity to leveraged buyouts, each requiring a unique blend of analytical and strategic skills.
With a comprehensive skill set from this group, students are well-prepared for roles in private equity firms, venture capital, growth equity, buyout funds, search funds, and operating roles in sponsor-backed companies, where they can drive value through strategic and financial stewardship.
